LEARNING ASSESSMENT

 STRATEGIES

My Target

At the end of this activity, you will be competent in identifying and naming different assessment methods used in the classroom.

My Task

·         Observe at least three classes and make a list of the assessment methods used by teachers.
·         In my list, classify assessment methods as to conventional and authentic and alternative.
·         Describe how each assessment method was used, including my personal observations.
·         Confer with my FS teacher for the assessment list.
·         Reflect on my experience.

Analysis

1.       Was there a variety of assessment methods used by the teacher? How relevant was/were the assessment method/s used?

There was variety of assessment tools or strategies used by the teacher. This was used in order to measure students learning. These assessment methods being used are relevant not only for the teacher himself but also for the students to measure their learning abilities, strengths and weaknesses.

2.       Do you think the expected students’ learning behaviours indicated in the objectives were properly and appropriately assessed through those assessment methods?

Yes, the students learning behavior indicated in the objectives was properly assessed because students gained knowledge and wider understanding about the topic presented by the teacher. Students also gained some basic skills though their hands-on activities.

My Reflections

Using the proper and appropriate methods in the classroom, teachers evaluation of students learning would surely be successful and fair. Through the appropriateness of the methods used, teacher and students will both gain from it.

Appropriate assessment methods are really important that the teacher must know. Because through the appropriateness of assessment methods used, the students learning behaviors stated in the learning objectives will be achieved at the end of the topic. The teacher can gain knowledge and information if what were the students achievements, strengths and weaknesses, and their learning abilities and skills through the use of appropriate assessment tools. If the teacher gained from the assessment tools actually used by him or her, students have also the part in gaining understanding from the essential information discussed by him or her. They gain understanding about their strengths and weaknesses that should be improved.
